audience analysis: template B

After reviewing my audience, i have decided that the most important criteria to them would be cleanliness, quality of food, atmosphere, and variety of food. Cleanliness is an obvious one. Nobody would want to eat in a dirty restaurant because that is just gross. If they see that a restaurant is dirty then they would most likely leave and go to another one. Quality of food would also be very important to this audience because if the food is found to be crappy or not to taste good then the customers would be unhappy and not want to go back. The atmosphere is very important since most of the audience would be college students and they would want a nice friendly atmosphere in which they could eat a good meal with their friends and socialize at the same time. Also the variety of food would be important because if they offer the same foods then people would eventually get tired of it and stop going there.

template A

The restaurant that I choose to review for this assignment is Knightros. Knightros is located on the UCF campus next to the arena. It is also one of the many places on campus in which students can use their meal plan to eat food for a specified amount each semester. Never the less Knightros is still open to the public for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. The main audience of this review would have to be students who live on campus since they are closest, and also any student who plans on purchasing a meal plan. This review could help them decide if they really want to invest in a meal plan or not and to see if they will like the food that is offered to them at Knightros. The thing that would be most important to these students would be the availability and good way to get a fresh hot meal at any time during the day. Most of these students who live on campus and are freshmen will be new to the whole college experience and they will not know how to fend for themselves and cook meals every night without their parents being around to help them out. So a meal plan to Knightros could really help them out. Depending on whether or not the restaurant gets a good review or not students may or may not invest in a meal plan, some students may wait to see what their friends are doing as well so that they will have someone to eat with. This review can provide useful information to let the audience know what types of foods are offered, the cleanliness of the restaurant, the hours of operation, and even how friendly the workers there are. The audience may also find information such as what foods are good, and what foods are bad helpful as well. Most of the students also will not have a lot of money due to having to pay the big tuition bills so they will need to know if eating here will be worth it or not.

commentary thesis

Each and every year the UCF student enrollment gross by 5,000 students and with these students comes the need for additional parking on campus for students. These additional students add to the already 53,000 enrolled today who might have cars and they too need parking. UCF already has a problem with the amount of parking the offer to students and the additional students that are added every year do not help.

commentary outline:

Commentary Outline:

Intro:

In my introduction paragraph I will start off my giving background information about the problem and why it continues to become more and more of a problem. There will also be a strong thesis statement in the paragraph giving insight to the problem and about all the people that it affects. Address the problem, why is there not adequate parking for all 53,000 + students on campus?

First paragraph:

I will talk about the research information I found out about why the problem gets worse and why it is not getting any better. Tell about the people I interviewed and what they thought about the problem and if they are having the same problem or not. Tell why the issue is so important and affects me so much. Tell why it affects so many people in negative ways and all the problems it causes for them and others.

Second paragraph:

I will talk about some new things that I think will help make the problem better or at least stop it from getting worse from year to year. Talk about why the problem is so hard to address and why it is not being focused on more.

Third paragraph:

Tell about some of the issues that made the problem a lot worse such as the cutting of bus routes and the closing of an entire parking lot during the fall semester.

Fourth paragraph:

Tell about how the situation could be better and if it wasn’t a problem how much better it would be for everyone. Talk again about the things that could be done to make this possible. Give examples.

The Hypocrisy Bowl

Matt Zeisloft, Rowen Divine, Mike Cinicolo

1. The commentary focuses on the exploitation of women's sexuality on television and how hypocritical people are about where and when the exploitation takes place.
2. Yes, the author does give an interesting introduction into the issue because the author paints a clear picture about what was going on and gives clear insight into the situation at hand. He tells us exactly what the article is going to be about by giving the Janet Jackson example and then going more in depth.
3. The author gives really good examples about what is going on in society at that point but does not go to in depth about the current issue and the commentary is written in a more humorous context then a serious one. It is clearly directed at society as a whole to show everyone what is becoming more acceptable, but it is seems as if it is written more for a younger crowd.
4. The possible causes of the trend the author is exploring is that sex sells. It is also that we are living in a constantly evolving world that is much more open to sexuality and not so shy about the topic.
5. The author does not go into detail about anything in his or her own life that could have been the possible causes of this trend. However, he does give example of others reactions to the issue that could possibly be the cause of the trend.
6. The author's stance on this topic is that they are more liberal then conservative and think that people are overreacting to the situation.
7. The significance that the author sees in this trend is that it is going to continue to happen because sex sells and broadcasting companies are going to continue to do whatever they need to in order to promote their network and get viewers.
